Faucet Valve Types

Each type of faucet valve functions in a different way to achieve the same purpose the delivery of water at a desired rate and temperature.

A back flow preventer of the type often found on outdoor faucets hose bibbs and on lawn sprinkler systems is one example of a check valve. Also known as water supply stops these valves shut off water to faucets toilets and fountains. Pex pipe two 1 4 in. The ball valve faucets are the most common kitchen faucet type and were the first kind of washer less faucets. These faucets work by using a compression stem which is a type of glorified screw with a washer at the end of it pressing against a valve seat. The ball shaped handle has chambers which control the flow of the water and likewise mixes the temperature of the water from the faucet.

There are actually four primary types of faucet valves the areas inside faucets where hot and cold water are mixed and the flow rate is regulated.

Only the latter two are scald proof.
